Early Childhood

For developmentally appropriate three and four year old students, the Early Childhood Program at Park City Day School supports the cognitive, social, emotional, and physical growth as well as fundamental attitudes and skills essential for academic success. Children explore their world and express their personalities through conversation, circle time lessons, books, music, science and technology, art, journals, and outdoor play. These fundamental learning experiences allow students to practice developing skills, to learn new concepts, to make connections, and to deepen prior knowledge. Teachers and parents work closely with one another to reinforce constructive attitudes and behaviors..

Technology & Learning

Young Explorer Program
The Early Childhood program incorporates technology as children collaborate in pairs at the IBM/Little Tikes Young Explorers workstations. Designed specifically to meet the developmental needs of young children, the workstations offer a wide array of learning activities to young children. Early learning skills are tracked and teachers monitor student activities to identify areas of strength and areas to be strengthened as the children grow and develop academically. The workstations introduce early collaborative learning efforts as students work in pairs and learn developmentally appropriate skills for social learning environments. Children utilize vocabulary and incorporate a broad computer terminology in their everyday language. With support, children learn the role of the computer as a research tool investigating topics through Internet research.
