Admissions Process

Admissions Summary

Through the admissions process, Park City Day School identifies students who demonstrate sound academic potential, intellectual curiosity and creativity, an emerging self-reliance, and sincere concern for the needs of others; and who can benefit from and contribute to our educational community. In the academic and behavioral assessment of a student's fit for our school, the admissions process carefully considers the interests and needs of prospective students and their families in order to ensure a mutual and long-term "fit" between the School and students.

Each qualified child will be admitted on a space-available basis. Beginning in early March, after the re-enrollment period for current students, new applicants will be offered admission into classes with vacancies.   Park City Day School reserves the right to accept students at its sole discretion.  Applicants will be considered after all application requirements are met, beginning with a first round of admissions decisions in early March and thereafter within two weeks of a completed application.

  • Admissions Assessment

Students applying for grades 1-8 are assessed in various ways. During their shadow day visit they will complete a written assessment and short interview.  We also require a writing sample and review  submission of previous standardized testing scores. Applicants for Kindergarten are assessed via classroom observation during a readiness visit prior to acceptance.

Contact the Advancement Office to arrange a shadow day or Kindergarten readiness appointment by emailing admissions@parkcitydayschool.org or calling (435)649-2791. Please allow an hour for the scheduled Kindergarten visit.
  • Family Interview

Applicants and parents will interview with the Head of School or the Director of Advancement.  The interview usually takes place in the context of the family's initial visit to campus and during each applicant's visit for a shadow day at school. This interview is an opportunity for parents to ask questions and for the School to get to know the family better.
  • Admissions Shadow Day

We encourage prospective students to spend a day with their prospective classes. This "shadow day" visit gives the student and family a better sense of the culture of Park City Day School and provides the School a chance to assess student fit and readiness.  Visits should be scheduled in advance with the Advancement Office by emailing admissions@parkcitydayschool.org or by calling (435)649.2791.

Please be prepared for a morning half-day visit for students applying for grade 1, and a full-day visit for those applying for grades 2-8.
  • Admissions Decision

The Admissions Committee considers new student applications beginning March 1 for the following school year. Candidates are notified of an admissions decision within two weeks of submitting a completed application.

A student is considered pre-enrolled when the $1,500 non-refundable tuition deposit has been paid and a completed and signed enrollment contract is submitted.
