Admissions Overview

The first step in the application process is to take a tour! Our Advancement Office is excited to share our engaging program and beautiful 11-acre campus with you at your convenience. Applicants must submit a completed online application along with a $75 non-refundable application fee. Current immunization records, birth certificate, previous school records (K-8 only), and teacher recommendations are required. Please contact us with any application questions. 

Applicants are assessed in various ways. During the shadow day visit, First through Eighth Grade students will complete an academic assessment and short interview with a member of the Admissions Staff. We also require a writing sample and previous standardized testing scores to be submitted. Preschool, Jr. Kindergarten and Kindergarten candidates are assessed via classroom observation during a readiness visit prior to acceptance.

Families will interview with either the Head of School or the Director of Enrollment.  The interview usually takes place in the context of the family's initial visit to campus or during each applicant's shadow day visit. This interview is an opportunity for parents to ask questions and for the school to get to know the family more deeply.

We encourage prospective students in First through Eighth Grade to spend a full or half day with their peer class. This "shadow day" gives the student a sense of our culture and provides the school with better opportunity to assess student fit and readiness. Visits should be scheduled in advance with the Advancement Office by emailing jaugustine@parkcitydayschool.org or by calling (435)649.2791.

The Admissions Committee considers new student applications on a rolling basis beginning March 1 for the following school year based on availability. Candidates are typically notified of an admissions decision within two weeks of submitting a completed application.

A student is considered pre-enrolled when the $1,500 non-refundable tuition deposit has been paid ($150 for tuition assistant applicants) and a signed enrollment contract is received. 

The PCDS Early Childhood program currently of one Preschool class for 15-20 three year olds and one Junior Kindergarten class for 15-20 four year olds. Kindergarten typically begins at age 5 by September 1st.  Space for each class is limited and often fills early. 

Applicants for Preschool should be at least 3 years old (by September 1st), independent with the toilet, and socially ready, in order to be considered for enrollment. View the Toileting Policy here. Applicants for Jr. Kindergarten should be 4 by September 1st. 

Early Childhood applicants for Preschool and Jr. Kindergarten participate in either a group or individual readiness visit. Readiness visits can be scheduled upon submission of an application through the Advancement Office by calling (435)649-2791 or via email.
